I’m rather glad I didn’t go through the efforts this would have required.

September 5th, 2007

From the official site:

Regrettably, due to unforeseen logistical issues, the Pet Shop Boys have been forced to cancel their previously announced September 27th Hollywood Bowl performance. Refunds will be available at point of purchase. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe would like to apologise to all ticket-holders for any disappointment and inconvenience caused.

I’m so upset they cancelled! I was also looking forward to the show, especially to hear them live at that venue. Live shows sound so Amazing there!!! Hearing all their songs live in that space was going to be a night of PSB indulgence. I was also looking forward to hearing We’re the Pet Shop Boys live!!!

and to make things worse, less than 24 hours after the HBowl cancellation anouncement, they add more live dates in other places. “The Fundamental tour may have officially ended but there are still four more shows… ”

    I’m seriously hating right now!

I had tickets for PSB + Ladytron, and was hugely bummed when they cancelled.

I’ve seen PSB in two other LA venues — the Wiltern and the Universal Amphitheater — and I would describe both as moderately sized.

I was at my first Hollywood Bowl show last night, Underworld. I have yet to confirm this with my Hwood Bowl contact, but after seeing just how insanely massive the venue is, I suspect PSB + Ladytron weren’t able to sell enough tickets to make it financially viable.

Also, the stage looks a bit small for their cubes.

If you’re in the area and are interested I understand Ladytron are putting on a free show that night to make up for any hurt feelings, which in my book is pretty classy, and (dare I say it?) business-savvy. (All-ages show at the Hollywood and Highland mall.)
